	1 \| Jemma Thompson \| Painting Impressionistic painted landscapes and pastels, sharing a lovely space with a very talented animal artist, signpainter, gilder. Please feel free to come in, have a little nose around my studio space where I turn things to gold from time to time. 	3 \| David Brooke \| Painting • Drawing Bold paintings which invoke the feeling of mythology and folk-tale without being based on any known story. Figures walk on the backs of fish or pull carrots from the ground. Also drawings in pencil or pen-and-ink, bold, solid black and white compositions. 	4 \| Kit Glaisyer \| Painter "Nationally renowned artist Kit Glaisyer is best known for his "Café Royal" and "Drip Figure" series of paintings, and his emotionally powerful works inspired by the figure, human relationships, and our experience of landscape. He had studios in London in the 90's, where he continues to run Artoose, a contemporary art collective, which showed at the Truman Brewery in 2007. 	5 \| John Charlesworth \| Painting My paintings are best described as imaginative, and each has an inner narrative. When this begins to establish itself, the painting takes to life. My subject matter is, broadly speaking, autobiographical, but in a coded form which allows the viewer to supply his or her own reading. directions From South Street turn down Gundry Lane. 	7 \| Jo Barnes \| Drawings • Paintings My favourite is life drawing using charcoal and pastel. I love drawing and painting in oils from the model, including portraiture. 	8 \| Charles Hallsworth \| Paintings Dorset provides much of the inspiration for my paintings. The Jurassic Coast has been a fascination from my youth. You should see a different view and feeling of the area from my work. Although creating something between impressionist and abstract images, I also enjoy drawing, and regularly attend life classes. 	9 \| Anna Sullock \| Paintings Oil on Board & Canvas After having trained for 5 years at Chelsea and the Slade School a long time ago, I have come back to painting. 	11 \| Suzanna Hubbard \| Illustration Suzanna Hubbard is an author and illustrator. Her influences are naïve folk art, and the classic children’s book illustrators Ludwig Bemelmans, Katherine Hale and H A Ray. 	12 \| Studio 14 \| Studio 14 is a unique space in the heart of Bridport's thriving art community. It is an exciting and eclectic working space, where artists and designer-makers work side by side in many different mediums. Kate Adler; Jewelery, bays and textiles. 	13 \| The Dog House \| Theatre, Puppetry and Dance Welcome to the Dog House where performer/dancer Niki McCretton and puppet maker Marc Parrett will be performing new work and exhibiting videos, photographs, puppets and designs from their previous productions. directions Go past St Michael’s Studios to end of factory building. 	14 \| Asaf Tolkovsky \| Furniture • Architecture Contemporary furniture and products alongside environmentally sensitive architectural projects. Demonstrating an evolving approach to design and construction, Asaf Tolkovsky’s artefacts reflect an interest in combining a diversity of sources as inspiration for making functional objects for the home. Recent work in the field of environmental building design will also be on show, offering a chance to see examples of materials and methods used. directions From South Street turn down Gundry Lane. 	15 \| Nick Meech \| 3D Sculptural 3D work made from oak and recycled steel. Loosely figurative. Displayed on the ground floor of West Mill amongst the machinery and sound of water. ‘Cleft’ explores the human within the tree. Split oak forms on circular steel grounds. 	16 \| Linzi Light \| Paintings Presenting a retrospective of my work over the last 20 years, made whilst living in the UK and the USA. A wide array of paintings from large abstract oils to smaller multi-media panels, and landscapes. An installation comprising over 40 paintings made from monochromatic photographs of 1970's American DIY manuals. An eerie compilation of people, home appliances and hands at work. Also "Small Holders" a collection of large bold acrylic paintings, based on 1950’s and 60’s “Smallholder” magazine covers. These give an unusual take on rural life and make an edgy comment on past and present methods of food production. Framed and unframed one off prints and cards. 	27 \| Bridport Art Society \| Paintings Formerly Allington Art Club, the Society has been in existence since February 1957. Four years ago it became Bridport Art Society. We now have 140 members who enjoy monthly evening demonstrations and lectures. We also have three exhibitions a year, our next being at The Salt House, West Bay over Easter 2009. We meet at St Johns Hall, Rax Lane, where we will hold the Open Studio. At the Open Studios you will be able to see many of our members working in different mediums. There will be paintings, prints and cards for sale. Refreshments available.
